No replacement for TotalHip

No replacement for TotalHip

TotalHip plays Cozmic Pizza, 199 W. 8th Ave. in Eugene, on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 for their 2nd Annual Turkey Overload Dance Party.

The tryptophan-busting show time is 8 pm, with a $5 cover charge.

Total Hip is an aggregation of 8 still-freaky ‘boomers’ who are chagrined to find themselves qualifying for senior discounts at buffet restaurants. The enterprise started as a series of impromptu jam sessions among a small group old friends who have played music on and off, together and separately in various incarnations, since the '60s.

'Elvis enjoyed the small town atmosphere of Florence back in the day'

From a press release

Elvis Presley, the name says it all.

“All fans here in Oregon would be remiss if we did not acknowledge this 75th anniversary of Elvis’s birth this year and, sadly, his passing on Aug. 16, 1977,” said Dave Masko, coordinator for the special Elvis tribute at the Florence Events Center on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on Jan. 8, 1935 and was the most popular American singers of the 20th century.  A cultural icon, he is widely known by the single name ELVIS.  He is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “the King.”
“Another reason why I and other fans want to produce this special Elvis tribute event here in Florence is Elvis often visited Oregon and even said he liked ‘Florence very much,’ “explained Masko of the last time the King visited Florence after a Nov.

Work reveals new details about Oregon Coast shipwreck cannons

Conservation work at Texas A&M University on the two historic cannon recovered from the beach at Arch Cape in February 2008 is starting to show results. Arch Cape is on the north Oregon coast between Oswald West State Park and Cannon Beach.

The cannon, found by teen beachcomber Miranda Petrone while walking at Arch Cape with her father, were recovered from the ocean shore by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department with help from Arch Cape officials.

The cannon were heavily coated by a concretion—a thick, hard layer of solidified sand and rock—after being buried deep on the beach for an unknown amount of time.
